Bukit Antarabangsa tragedy...Ada fulus, terus lulus!

Each time there is a landslide at the Ampang area, we get statements from Government officials and politicians that development in the hilly areas will be prohibited permanently.

But who are we kidding? A couple of months after such tragedies, we see cranes and tractors moving in to work on new projects.

Why is the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council allowing this? Shouldn't it be held responsible if the projects that it approves cause such tragedies? It reeks of corruption. Surely, there must be some form of incentive which encourages officers to approve these projects although they are not supposed to. Otherwise, will developers continue to get the necessary approval for projects in the hilly areas? Money, it seems, can buy all forms of approvals. Ada pulus, terus lulus!

The highlands in Ampang serve as water catchment areas. This simply means the level of rainfall in these areas is high. If we chop down the trees, we won't have enough greens to absorb the water. If the water is not absorbed, it remains on the ground and loosens the soil. The soil then begins to move and cause landslides.

So many lives have been lost, so many properties destroyed, landslides after landslides have occured, but trees are being chopped down indiscriminately and developments at the hilly areas continue.

Our problem is, we never learn from history.

Of course, the government will never learn. The collusion between the government and greedy developers will continue. The next tragedy waiting to happen will be in Medan Damansara. Mark my words. The residents are living on edge. Day after day, trees are being brutally hacked down in the name of development, turning the area into a concrete jungle. The rape of Bukit Antarabangsa shows the avarice of the discredited Barisan government. Repentance is not in the dictionary of the Barisan. In the meantime all we can do is pray, and pray hard. In the meantime, i will be having my beer at Tanjong Rambutan Pub, where there is some semblance of sanity in a world gone mad. Cheers.

Corrupt politicians and government officials will be severely dealt with! Kah Kah Kah! The Medan Damansara hill slope project is just waiting for a tragedy to happen. Residents should Thank FT Minister Zulhasnan Rafique, Dep Min Saravanan and FT Mayor Hakim in advance!

I'm puzzled with the local council (MPAJ).. I live in Bkt Antarabangsa & at my place we were informed tht there will be another development (last month).

I thought there shouldn't be any new housing project at hillside area in Bkt Antarabangsa.

We've had a meeting with MPAJ & asked about the banned frm state gov but we were told it has been aproved before state gov imply the new ruling. It doesn't make sense at all.. didn't see the diff between the previous state gov & the new state gov.. they are all the same...

We might as well print a book about each landslide in Malaysia.Where we smell a rat when the housing project was approved we should exposed all these madness.Any chance of printing such a book soon and make our governtment really 'walk the talk'?

Hi All ...
TDM was spot on about 'Melayu Mudah Lupa' statement some time back ... but now the horrowing phenomena is that Malaysians all has caught the disease! I can still recalled the front page of The Star stating the then PM (TDM) rapping Selangor MB about the raping of the Ulu Klang (around Bukit Antarabangsa) forest & trees. They went on a helicopter ride around the area ... TDM in fact was showing what goes on in that area (no intention of over-praising TDM here)... It was well within the old regime Selangor MBs from BN ... till the taking over by opposition. So to Dato' Khir ... please ... like their slogan ... Satu Lagi Project kerajaan BN!! Check back ... it goes a long way back ... well before PKR ever exist! Rot in hell to those contributed to this mess!!

There are different between previous State Government with the current State Government. If the approval of development has been approved by the previous State Government, the current State Government cannot cancelled it. The developer threaten to sue the current State Government for damages. As we know, Malaysia judiciary is not independent and can current State Goverment take the risk to ban it. The compensation the developer seek from the State Goverment can go RM100million to Rm300million. The State Government is powerless to ban the project which already approved by previous State goverment.

Add stupid buyers to your list. The houses in Damansara 21 will cost 10 to 15 mil and the project will proceed as planned.

The reason is only that there are many stupid buyers with money out there.

Simple economics - no demand means no supply!

Well said....kudos to you.

Time is right to educate people with money who obviously cannot think for themselves....not to buy such property even if they have surplus money gained honestly or otherwise.

No demand no supply and god willing no more landslides tragedy in future and no more TEARS
